Mold remediation is difficult under any circumstances, but with books it is very delicate. It's best to have professionals take care of it, or the toxic mold can spread throughout a library.

I live in one of the rainiest places Vancouver, BC. I leave the grey sky each year for Mexico...This creates a mold problem in my convertable every year. I have tried everything and I can guarentee "Borax" is the best. I was gone for 5 months this year and had mold in various size dots on every inch of appolstry and plastic.

I sprinkled Borax all over, waited 4 days (since it was very bad& smelly) I vaccumed it later and every spot came out, SERIOIUSLY AMAZING. Being Pregnant this year I was scared to try commercial cleaners, I had steam cleaned in the past. If you have a serious problem this not only sanitizes safely and naturally...IT KILLS the mold!! Vinegar and water I tried before as well and there is no comparison...Borax is far less work and you are not adding more moisture!

Other people have no Idea the trouble I have had with this, I have taken advise from people who mean well every year... but they just don't know. Borax I learned is a mold killer, this year I even removed some of Last years stains that the vinegar and the steam cleaner did not remove. The best is I have allergies and this rectified the spores and the smell far more quickly and easily than I had ever imagined. Best part is I only spent I spent under $6.00 on a remedy that was better than my time and $$$ from previous years...YEAYYYYY

[...] Removing Mold from Books and Papers Up until 2000, mold remediation consisted of Lysol spray, vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters, respirators and hours and hours of manual labor. The results were marginal at very best. Using stronger chemicals to actually kill the mold. Mail this post [...]
